4 Easy ways to wear a beret

Hi 😃

Move over dad caps and bucket hats, there is a new Sherrif in town, the beret!

A brief history, During the 14th and 15th centuries, berets had been adopted by the poorest classes in society – farmers and artists – because of the cheap availability. It was also a symbol of revolution, from an association with artists and creatives in France in the 19th century. Who knew it would become a fashion trend!

Some may say the beret is back because of political and social movements we’ve seen in the past years all over the world. From the “Me Too” and “Times Up” movements to the rise of feminism and general equality, its no surprise that fashion icons and leaders turned to berets to make a stand. The fashion industry often takes into consideration the mood of the world around them and produces pieces to reflect that. The beret trend started sometime last year and has been carried over to 2018 (it is going to be a big one) as seen on celebrities like Rihanna, Meghan markle , Beyonce, my favorite Bonang Matheba and on fashion runways like Dior s/s 18.

Now, we arrive at the tricky issue of how to wear a beret. Due to their unique shape, trying on berets can have you asking yourself questions such as “am I doing this right?” and “do I look like a cute like this?”

Berets compliment every outfit adding a little bit of sass and chicness (reason why you should include it in your wardrobe). 4 easy ways to wear your beret hat:

  1. To the left or to the right

2. Mushroom

3. Add an accesory a pedant

4. On top of your head
